$50 million donation will pay for science building at University of Southern California

Gift comes from retired surgeon Gary Micheleson

Gary K. Michelson, a retired orthopedic spinal surgeon, has donated $50 million to the University of Southern California to fund the USC Michelson Center for Convergent Bioscience. The 190,000-square-foot facility will be situated in the southwest quadrant of the University Park Campus and will house 20 to 30 principal investigators and laboratories employing hundreds of researchers and students. It will have state-of-the-art flexible labs, a Center for Electron Microscopy and Analysis, a nanofabrication facility and a suite of microscopy imaging technology.
