Higher-education institutions in Texas want legislature to OK $3.6 billion in bonds for construction

50 schools have requested funds from the state to upgrade campuses.

From The Austin American-Statesman: About 50 higher-education institutions in Texas are hoping to persuade the state legislature to authorize bonds for construction projects. The state's public universities, health campuses, technical schools and two-year colleges have requested a total of $3.6 billion in bonds. Lawmakers last approved a major round of tuition revenue bonds in 2006, for 63 projects totaling $1.9 billion.
