A facilities task force is urging the Broward County (Fla.) school district to reduce the costs of its in-house lawn mowing services. The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports that the task force has found that district employees who cut the grass receive almost three times what an outside company charges for the same work. The district uses a private company to tackle about half of its turf care at a rate of $50 for every acre cut in a school's common areas. That same service performed by district employees costs about $140 per acre.
