Construction worker dies after falling from roof of Pennsylvania high school

The victim fell through a hole that had been cut out for HVAC equipment at Pine-Richland High School in Gibsonia.

A construction worker has died after falling through the roof of a Pennsylvania high school.

The Harrisburg Patriot-News reports that Joe Gazzo, 42, fell through a hole that had been cut out for HVAC equipment on the roof of the Pine-Richland High School in Gibsonia. The school is renovating its gym.

“The district has learned that the worker involved in the high school construction accident has passed away,” a spokesperson for the Pine-Richland district said. “We extend our thoughts and condolences to his family and loved ones.”

Gazzo worked for Greco Steel for 23 years, according to WPXI, who spoke with his father, Joseph Gazzo.

Police and OSHA are investigating the accident.
