Collision between truck and school bus kills truck driver in Louisiana

2 students riding on the Terrebonne Parish school bus sustained minor injuries.

A head-on collision between a pickup truck and school bus in Louisiana killed the truck driver and injured two students on the bus.

WDSU-TV reports Troy Anthony Lyons, 43, died in the crash in Terrebonne Parish, La.

The collision occurred at 6:30 a.m. on Louisiana Highway 56 in Terrebonne Parish.
For reasons still under investigation, Lyons’ southbound pickup crossed the center line and struck a Terrebonne Parish district school bus head-on in the northbound lane of travel, according to state police.

Lyons was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the state police report.

The driver of the school bus was properly restrained and was not injured.

At the time of the crash, 16 students were on the bus. Two students were transported to a an area hospital with minor injuries.
