A building at Mandeville Junior High School in Mandeville, La., has been cleared of bats after a few were discovered behind a wall last month. The New Orleans Times-Picayune says environmental experts have conducted tests and determined that the bats have abandoned the roof area of the building and that all entries into the building have been properly sealed. Two to four bats were detected last month behind a wall in the school. Because they are a protected species, the bats couldn't be forcibly removed or harmed. Devices were installed that would let the bats leave the building but would prevent them from getting back in.
