A fifth-grade teacher at an elementary school in Jacksonville, Fla., has died after collapsing in her classroom.

Action News Jax reports that Mildretta Chapple, 43, taught at Biltmore Elementary School in the Duval County School District.

Authorities say that Chapple collapsed Tuesday in her classroom, and students summoned another fifth-grade teacher, Larry Harrison, for help. Harrison found her lying on the ground and tried to perform CPR, but was unable to revive her.

Chapple was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Chapple had worked at Biltmore Elementary for four years and had employed in the district for 10 years, The Florida Times-Union reports.

The district has made grief counselors to help students and staff.
