Idaho senate will vote on campus carry law

Feb. 18, 2014
Will Idaho be the next state to allow guns on college campuses?

The Idaho Senate State Affairs Committee voted 7-2 to move to a full Senate vote legislation that would allow weapons on school campuses, the Couer d’Alene press reported. The vote comes in the wake of opposition by the education community in Idaho.

The proposed legislation would allow retired law enforcement officers and those holding an Idaho concealed weapons license to carry firearms on college grounds. It would be remain unlawful to carry weapons in residence halls or in places where more than 1,000 people can assemble.

If passed, Idaho would be among seven states that allow people to carry guns on campus. Those states include Colorado, Kansas, Mississippi, Oregon, Wisconsin and Utah.
