Four teenagers have been arrested after police uncovered an alleged plot to shoot classmates and teachers at Summerville High School in Tuolumne, Calif.
NBC News reports that the Tuolumne County Sheriff's Department says the shooting plot at the school in the Sierra Nevada foothills was in the beginning stages, and no one was harmed.
The plot was "very detailed in nature and included the names of victims, locations and methods in which the plan was to be carried out," Sheriff James Mele said at a Saturday news conference.
“It’s particularly unsettling when our most precious assets – which are our students, their teachers – are targets for violence,” Mele said.
An investigation of the alleged plot began Wednesday after fellow students noticed suspicious activities and reported them to the school staff. Detectives arrested four juvenile suspects on charges of conspiracy to commit assault with deadly weapons.
