Student dies by suicide after shooting 2 classmates at Colorado high school

A student at Evergreen High School in Evergreen, Colorado, shot and wounded two of his classmates Wednesday before fatally shooting himself.

The Colorado Sun reports that one of the wounded students was in critical condition Thursday; the other injured student was in stable condition.

The identity of the shooter has not been disclosed.

CNN reported that the first 911 call reporting a shooter at the school came in at 12:24 p.m. Wednesday. 

Investigators are also working to interview many of the students who witnessed what happened to piece together the details of the shooting.

Classes at the school have been canceled Thursday and Friday.

The shooting is the 47th that has taken place at a school in the United States this year — 24 on college campuses and 23 on K-12 school grounds. 

Evergreen is about 28 miles southwest of Denver.
