Police suspect suicide after finding the body of a 13-year-old boy at California middle school

The boy, whose identity was not disclosed, was found Tuesday morning on the campus of Don Juan Avila Middle School in Aliso Viejo.

Officials have closed two schools in Aliso Viejo, Calif., for the day after the apparent suicide of a 13-year-old boy whose body was found on a middle school campus.

KLTA-TV reports that Orange County Sheriff’s Department deputies were called to Don Juan Avila Middle School at about 6:30 a.m. Tuesday and found the boy’s body on the campus.

The identity of the boy has not been disclosed.

The middle school and Don Juan Avila Elementary School, which shares the campus with the middle school, have been closed for the day. The schools are part of the Capistrano Unified School District.

Investigators are treating the death as an apparent suicide, department spokesperson Carrie Braun says.
