The Orlando Sentinel reports that Alejandro Vargas Martinez, who attended Boone High School, was shot at about 6:30 a.m. Tuesday about a half-mile east of the school.
Police have offered a $10,000 reward for information about the “killer or killers,” thanks to a contribution from the Florida Sheriff’s Association. Additional law enforcement officers have been added to the school’s security.
The slain teenager was described as “a great kid” who was “well-known and well-liked.”
Authorities have not disclosed what led to the violence.
