Bus stop moved after highway crash kills Indiana schoolchildren

Nov. 6, 2018
Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation moves stop off the rural highway where 3 students died in Rochester, Ind.

An Indiana school system has relocated a rural bus stop after twin boys and their older sister were killed last week by a pickup truck.

The Indianapolis Star reports that the Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation has moved the bus stop into the trailer park where the students lived.

The children died after the driver of the truck allegedly failed to stop for a school bus on a rural highway.

Xzavier and Mason Ingle, both 6, and Alivia Stahl, 9, were struck while crossing the road to get on their bus. They died at the scene of the crash near Rochester in Fulton County.

The children's uncle, Elgin Ingle, says his brother and brother's fiancé had asked the school district to move the stop so the children could board the bus in the trailer park, rather than having them cross the state highway.

A fourth child, 11-year-old Maverik Lowe, also was injured in the crash and was airlifted to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne with life-threatening injuries.

The driver, Alyssa Shepherd, 24, of Rochester, has been charged with reckless homicide and other crimes.
