Two teens shot to death after quarrel outside Chicago high school

Sept. 27, 2018
Police have not said if the boys, 16 and 17, were students at the school.

Two teenage boys were shot to death after a quarrel near an alternative high school on the South Side of Chicago escalated to gunfire.

WBBM-TV reports the quarrel began around 3 p.m. Wednesday near the Youth Connection Leadership Academy, a charter school on the campus of the Illinois Institute of Technology. Gunmen chased the victims west on 35th Street to a nearby train station, where they shot the two victims.

The boys, 16 and 17, were pronounced dead at an area hospital. Authorities have not disclosed whether either of the two was a student at Youth Connection.

Police are searching for three people believed to be involved in the shooting.

Investigators are checking police pod cameras in the area to see if they can help identify the shooters, who fled the scene in a beige Ford Explorer.

Police said they have been talking to at least one witness, and have good leads in the case.

No one was in custody Thursday morning.
