University of Cincinnati police officers made nine off-campus traffic stops in violation of a 2015 agreement forbidding such stops.
The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that one of the traffic stops occurred just a day after University President Santa Ono contended in a letter to Mayor John Cranley that the university was not making such stops.
"We are not conducting traffic stops off-campus and have not since shortly after July 19, 2015," Ono wrote in his letter.
The agreement to end off-campus traffic stops came after a University police officer was charged with murder in the July 19, 2015, shooting of Sam Dubose, who was not a student, about a half-mile from the campus.
The officer, Ray Tensing, was fired by the university and is scheduled to go on trial later this year.
The university's traffic stop records show campus officers have stopped nine cars since last August for violations including failing to yield to a pedestrian, erratic driving and running a red light.
School officials contended that each of the nine stops resulted from an immediate public safety concern.
