The University of Maryland experienced its second data breach in the last month. The breach occurred on the morning of March 15. The U.S. Secret Service and the University Police Department worked with the IT staff to mitigate the intrusion.
“The FBI has informed the University that the intrusion resulted in no public release of any information and no damage to the institution, except for the release of personal data of one senior University official, who has been notified,” Anne G. Wylie, Chair, President's Task Force on Cybersecurity, said in a letter to the university community.
Officials said the breach was unrelated to the February 18th data breach.
