2 professors at Arkansas university charged with making meth

Nov. 19, 2019
The two allegedly were manufacturing the drug in the science center at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia.

Two chemistry professors at a college in Arkansas have been arrested on charges of making methamphetamine.

The Nashville Tennessean reports that Clark County sheriff’s office says that Terry David Bateman and Bradley Allen Rowland, professors at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Ark., have been charged with manufacturing methamphetamine and using drug paraphernalia..

Tina Hall, a spokeswoman for the university, says Bateman and Rowland have been on administrative leave since Oct. 11.

In early October, police investigated a report of a chemical odor in the Reynolds Science Center on the Arkadelphia campus. She says the building reopened Oct. 29 after a company filtered the air.

The arrests have drawn comparisons to the central character in the TV series “Breaking Bad,” in which a high school chemistry teacher began making methamphetamine.
