Victims are expected to survive, authorities say; shooting occurred after a game between LeFlore and Williamson high schools.

At least 10 people were injured Friday night after gunfire erupted at the end of a high school football game in Mobile, Ala.

The Mobile Press-Register reports that the shooting occurred at Ladd-Peebles Stadium after a game between LeFlore High School and Williamson High School.

The ages of the injured ranged from 15 to 18. Nine were injured in the gunfire, and a 10th victim suffered a seizure in the aftermath of the shooting.

Six of the nine people injured by gunfire had been released from the hospital by Saturday afternoon, Mobile Police Chief Lawrence Battiste said. Each of the victims was expected to survive, the authorities said.

Deangelo Parnell, a 17-year-old LeFlore High School student, has been charged with nine counts of attempted murder.

Authorities say the shooting stemmed from a fight, and the suspect started “indiscriminately shooting."

The day after the shooting, local leaders promised stricter security protocols at public school sports events.

Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson says the “enhanced” protocols will be in place in time for this week’s high school football games.

In a message posted on Facebook, Mobile County School Superintendent Chresal Threadgill pledged to work toward preventing future violence.

LeFlore High School Principal William Henderson also posted a message on Facebook:
