States with lowest per capita support for higher education, fiscal 2019
New Hampshire has the lowest per-capita support for higher education among the 50 states, according to the latest figures from the annual Grapevine survey.
Funding for higher education in New Hampshire for fiscal 2019 amounted to $94.76 per capita, the Grapevine figures show.
The survey, compiled by by Illinois State University’s Center for the Study of Education Policy in cooperation with the State Higher Education Executive Officers, found that fiscal support for higher education in the 50 states for fiscal 2019 amounted to more than $91.4 billion—that translates to an average per-capita support for higher education of $280.24.
The highest per-capita support for higher education was in Wyoming, which provided $666.05 per capita.
Illinois State notes that the figures shown in the Grapevine study are based on initial allocations and estimates reported by states through January 2019, and are subject to change.
