States with highest per capita support for higher education, fiscal 2019

Wyoming allocated the most per capita in fiscal 2019 to support higher education.

Fiscal support for higher education in the 50 states for fiscal 2019 amounted to more than $91.4 billion, according to the latest figures from the annual Grapevine survey compiled by by Illinois State University’s Center for the Study of Education Policy in cooperation with the State Higher Education Executive Officers.

The average per-capita support for higher education among the 50 states in fiscal 2019 was $280.24.

The highest per-capita support for higher education was in Wyoming, which provided $666.05 per capita to support colleges and universities.

Illinois State notes that the figures shown in the Grapevine study are based on initial allocations and estimates reported by states through January 2019, and are subject to change.
