The Chicago School Unveils New West Loop Campus with $1 Billion Economic Impact
The Chicago School is offering a look inside its new West Loop campus, a historic adaptive reuse project designed to support the next generation of health, behavioral sciences, and human services education.
Designed by RDG Planning & Design, the campus brings new life to a former office building while creating a more modern, connected learning environment for students, faculty, and community partners. The project includes classrooms, laboratories, simulation spaces, standardized patient labs, student lounges, collaboration zones, and rooftop gathering areas. According to RDG, the campus also includes one of the region’s most advanced simulation centers, giving students opportunities to practice clinical skills in realistic environments modeled on today’s healthcare settings.
The project reflects a broader trend in higher education: institutions are rethinking existing urban buildings as flexible, student-centered campuses that can support workforce development, experiential learning, and community impact without relying solely on new construction.
