Princeton University in Princeton, New Jersey, has begun construction on a project that will convert Guyot Hall into Eric and Wendy Schmidt Hall.

The university says Guyot Hall, the longtime home of environmental sciences, is being transformed into a new home for Princeton’s Department of Computer Science.

The project will more than double the size of former Guyot Hall. The 95,000-square-foot 1907 building will be renovated, and a 136,000-square-foot addition will be constructed.

The existing structure’s exterior and its primary interior spaces, such as the central Commons, will be restored to the original configuration.

The building will have new classrooms, teaching labs, offices, collaboration and meeting spaces, an indoor bike room, a courtyard and a raised terrace.
