Sonoma State University in Rohnert Park, California, is planning a $25 million renovation of the building that houses its School of Nursing.
The upgrades of Nichols Hall "will create a modern, technologically advanced, and welcoming space to educate and prepare future generations of nurses," said Stacey J. Bosick, Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.
The renovation will be funded through two sources:
- $16 million from the Sonoma State Commitment. These are one-time, nonrenewable funds earmarked to support the growth and advancement of the School of Nursing.
- $9 million from a line of credit provided by the Chancellor’s Office. This financing supports one-time infrastructure needs tied to enrollment growth..
Construction documents say that Nichols Hall is a three-story, steel-framed, 27,788-square-foot academic building that houses classrooms and staff offices for multiple academic programs.
The renovation will include a new mechanical system, restroom upgrades, electrical and lighting upgrades, audiovisual upgrades specific for nursing program, modifications to the fire sprinkler system, and modifications to an elevator.
