Shreveport, La., college plans $30 million upgrade of science building

A liberal arts college in Shreveport, Louisiana, will receive $10 million in federal funds to help pay for the renovation of its 79-year-old science building.

To appropriately house and provide the needed resources for the college's School of Health Sciences, the Mickle facility will be upgraded with a Health Sciences Pavilion that accommodates flexible classroom environments, modern laboratories and a studio-format design that is optimal for discovery-based teaching.

“Together, these efforts position Centenary to address regional workforce needs, create new academic pathways, and preserve an iconic campus building for generations to come,” said Christopher Holoman, college president.

The university says its health sciences programs are a key draw for new enrollees to Centenary College.
