Students and staff at McKinley High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, will have a temporary home for two years while their campus undergoes a major renovation.
WBRZ-TV reports that the renovation will include tearing down some parts of the school while building new ones and adding on to others
"McKinley has been here since 1961," Principal Robert Webb says. "[W}e have been here long enough that we need a new facility for our students...All kids should have an opportunity to go to school that's uplifting, that's motivating to them."
While workers carry out the renovation, McKinley students and staff will be relocated to the former Kenilworth Middle School campus, which now houses the Baton Rouge Center for Visual and Performing Arts.
The last day for McKinley staff on the existing campus is June 18.
