Clayton County (Georgia) district begins high school modernization
The Clayton County (Georgia) district has broken ground on a major renovation and modernization of Lovejoy High School in Hampton.
Clayton News-Daily.com reports that the project, paid for from special purpose local sales tax money, includes a new gym, a new two-story wing and other improvements.
The Clayton County School Board has approved the cost of the modernization and additions at more than $141.87 million.
Evergreen Construction, the project's construction manager, says the upgrades to existing space will include improvements to the academic areas, administrative area, restrooms, student commons, media center, and Twelve Oaks Stadium.
The addition will include a new gym building, 25 classrooms for the 9th-grade academy, administrative areas, and support spaces for the students.
