Charter school in San Diego is getting a $32 million upgrade

Improvements at America's Finest Charter School include a new elementary building, a renovated middle school facility and a new multipurpose building.

Construction has begun on an upgraded campus for a charter school in San Diego, California, that calls itself America's Finest Charter School.

The $32 million project will be completed in four phases:

  • Phase 1: Construction of a new structure, a 25,793-square-foot, two-story elementary school building. 
  • Phase 2: Renovation of the existing wood frame of a 9,865-square-foot middle school building, including exterior and interior structural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, fire protection, and site work renovations, along with a kindergarten  playground. 
  • Phase 3: Removal of 10 existing portables and the building of all new upper-level play areas.
  • Phase 4: Construction of a 7,598-square-foot multipurpose building with a kitchen as well as a parking lot, turf field, ornamental fencing and hardscape. 

The builder is Erickson-Hall Construction.
