April 13, 2022
The state of Rhode Island identified D'Abate Elementary School as a high priority for facility upgrades.

The Providence (R.I.) district's D'Abate Elementary School is undergoing a $21 million renovation.

The Rhode Island Department of Education’s 2022 School Building Authority construction report identified D’Abate Elementary as “the highest priority project” for the state's Facility Equity Initiative, a new program to pay for school improvements for underserved students.

The upgrades at D'Abate will provide shared learning spaces, new and flexible classroom furniture, and lighting improvements, reports Providence Business News

The construction is expected to last about a year. While the building is under construction, students and staff will be relocated to nearby Lauro Elementary School.
