The Shefa School's new campus will be situated inside a renovated 12-story facility.

The Shefa School, a Jewish school for students with learning disabilities in New York City, is renovating a vacant building for its new campus.

The campus will be housed in a building that has been empty for more than 40 years, reports The Forward

The school purchased the 12-story building for $49.5 million and has a 99-year lease.

The Shefa School grew from 24 students in its first year to more than 200.  With the new campus, the school aims to expand capacity to 350 students, as well as establish a teaching lab for Jewish special educators and leaders.

Founded in 2014, Shefa is a Jewish day school serving students with language-based learning disabilities. The existing campus in Manhattan serves students in grades one through eight.

The project is set to be completed in spring 2024.
