The renovations and additions are helping alleviate crowding within the existing high school.

Multiple renovations and additions are nearing completion at City High School in Iowa City, Iowa.

The improvements include a new building on the east side of the campus, a 2,000-seat, two-story athletic gym, locker rooms, a modern cafeteria and installation of air conditioning in the entire school.

The upper and lower commons will function as the new cafeteria and will offer students "cafe-style" and outdoor seating.

Construction began in September 2019 and is expected to be completed later this year.
