$33 million project will modernize space at Lake MIddle/High School in Uniontown, Ohio.

The Lake (Ohio) Local School District is ready to begin work on a $33 million renovation and expansion of its middle/high school facility in Uniontown.

Next week, the staff parking lot south of Lake High School will be closed to staff parking and student drop off so that construction crews may begin site development for a new, two-story addition of new classrooms.

The project is expected to take more than two years, High School Principal Dan Harold said in a message on the district web site.

“Everyone associated with our schools and community has every reason to be excited about the impending changes to our school and campus," says Harold. "While we will certainly need to be flexible and patient as we meet the challenges of the next two-plus years, I am very confident one thing will never be disrupted—great things will continue to happen at Lake High School."

Plans call for the expansion and renovation of the existing art and music wing will be completed by the beginning of the 2018-2019 school year.

Demolition of the existing high school’s east wing will be completed by December 2018, and a new main entrance will be completed by December, 2019. The new entrance will include additional classrooms and an auxiliary gym.

Upon completion, the campus will have 110,123 square feet of new space, and 64,000 square feet of renovated space. It will accommodate students in grades seven to 12.

The architect is SoL Harris/Day Architecture, and the builder is Hammond Construction.

In addition to the high school/middle school construction, the Lake Local district is remodeling Uniontown Elementary for use as a preK-to-first-grade campus and constructing a campus for grades two to six to replace Hartville and Lake elementary schools.
