The Baltimore Business Journal reports that the public works board allocated funds to replace three schools—the Academy of College and Career Exploration at Robert Poole Middle School ($38.5 million); Arundel Elementary/Middle School ($36.8 million); and John Eager Howard Elementary School ($28.3 million).
The panel also approved $2.9 million for pre-construction work to replace Patterson High School.
The work is part of the 21st Century Schools initiative, a $1 billion overhaul of facilities in the Baltimore City district.
The Maryland Stadium Authority, under an agreement struck by the state, city and school district, is overseeing a majority of the school renovations — about 28 of the city's most dilapidated facilities — s in 2013.
