Florida college breaks ground on auto tech facility

The Automotive Technology Training Center at Santa Fe College in Gainesville is scheduled to open next year.

Santa Fe College in Gainesville, Florida, has begun construction of an Automotive Technology Training Center on its Blount Center campus.

The college says the $16 million, 17,200-square-foot facility will be built on the north side of the Blount Center Campus in downtown Gainesville. It will have interactive classrooms with advanced diagnostic tools and simulators, specialty teaching bays, and it will accommodate up to 60 students each semester. 

Classes at the new facility are expected to begin fall 2027. 

Construction of the facility marks the latest investment in new buildings in the college's Construction and Technical Programs portfolio. Last year, Santa Fe opened the Ralph W. Cellon Jr. Institute for Skilled Trades and Advanced Manufacturing for certifications in HVAC and welding.
