Florida district breaks ground on new high school

The Wakulla County (Florida) district has broken ground on a new Wakulla High School.
WCTV-TV reports that demolition of the existing building is set to begin soon. The new facility will have new classrooms, administrative spaces and other infrastructure improvements.
It also will have a new Performing Arts Center, Athletic Center and a renovated NJROTC space.
After studying whether the aging high school buildings should be modernized, demolished or replaced, the district recommended razing and replacing several areas of the campus.
Phase 1 includes the demolition of the carpentry shop, the former ACE building, the engineering building and the faculty parking lot. Work will begin on the new Performing Arts Center and Athletic Center on Aug. 1.
The new athletic facility, new carpentry building, renovated NJROTC space and new Central Utility Plant are expected to be completed by July 2027.
Phase 2 is scheduled to begin in June 2027, focusing on new classroom and administrative spaces.
