Construction has been completed on the Paul Robeson Charter School in Trenton, New Jersey.

Jersey Digs reports that the 55,000-square-foot, two-story building will provide space for 750 students in grades K to 8. The school has been housed in a former Catholic school in Trenton; the new campus will enable the school to add grades K to 2.

The $35 million facility has 38 classrooms, administrative offices, science labs, flexible learning spaces, elective areas, and academic support spaces.

The campus includes a shared cafeteria/gymnasium, an open atrium at the entrance, and outdoor spaces with sculpted berms designed for learning and play.

The building’s construction uses hollow-core precast concrete planks spanning between masonry bearing walls. This structural system optimizes efficiency and delivers long-term durability.

The architect of record is Atkin Olshin Schade Architects.
