Bridgeport (Connecticut) district opens high school on University of Bridgeport campus

The Bridgeport (Connecticut) district has opened a new high school on the University of Bridgeport campus.

The Connecticut Post reports that the 205,000-square-foot Bassick High School replaces a nearly-100-year old facility that had no air conditioning.

The new school is a four-story building that can accommodate 1,250 students. 

Juniors and seniors will occupy the third floor; ninth and 10th grade students will attend classes on the fourth. 

The school also has a neighboring athletic field for football, soccer and lacrosse, also obtained from the University of Bridgeport.

District officials reached a deal in 2020 to build a new Bassick on the university campus.
