The Chesterfield County (Virginia) district has broken ground on its first new high school in more than 20 years.

The district says the $196 million campus, as yet unnamed, will be its 12th high school. The two-story school will have more than 340,000 square feet of space and accommodate 2,400 students.

It will be built on Duval Road in the Moseley community. The site is near the new Deep Creek Middle School, which will open later this summer, and an under-construction elementary school scheduled to open in August 2026.

Funding for the high school comes from a bond plan approved by Chesterfield County voters in 2022.

The architect is Stantec, and the contractor is Gulf Seaboard

The Chesterfield County district has more than 64,000 students who attend 68 schools.
