Catawba County (North Carolina) district opens $29 million replacement school
The Catawba County (North Carolina) district has replaced Maiden Elementary School with a new $29 million building.
The Hickory Daily Record reports that the new facility in Maiden replaces an aging campus that was housed in multiple buildings.
The cafeteria at the new school is complete but not the kitchen. The gym and media center are also incomplete, said Dan Moore, assistant superintendent of operations.
Meals are being cooked in the old Maiden Elementary kitchen and taken to the new cafeteria. Students are being taken by bus to the old gym for PE until the new gym is complete.
Construction of the new Maiden Elementary has been underway since 2022.
