Wentworth Institute of Technology, a private technical design and engineering university in Boston, is constructing an athletic complex in the Mission Hill neighborhood.
The complex will include a playing field that will be built on top of a 50,000-square-foot single-story, partially below-grade parking structure as well as ancillary structures to house athletic support spaces, reports Boston Real Estate Times.
The school will use funds from a $50 million tax-exempt bond issued by MassDevelopment, the state's development finance agency and land bank, to construct the complex.
The school also plans to restore the exterior of two existing historic breweries on the property.
The complex will be available for community use. Plans ae being developed for neighborhood youth athletic programs, senior citizen activities, and other community programs.
