Tyndall Academy, a pre-k through seventh-grade school on the Tyndall Air Force Base in Tyndall, Fla., is constructing a $15 million building to house middle school students.
The Bay (Fla.) district is replacing a building that was destroyed in 2018 by Hurricane Michael, reports The Panama City News-Herald.
The new middle school will feature 16 classrooms and a large, collaborative space for STEAM activities.
It will also be built with insulated concrete form, which will make it more energy-efficient and able to withstand hurricane-force winds.
