The Pueblo (Colo.) district plans to complete construction of five new school buildings by 2023. 

The buildings that are scheduled to be completed: Pueblo Centennial and Pueblo East High Schools, Franklin School of InnovationSunset Park Elementary, and a K- Expeditionary School, reports The Pueblo Chieftain

The construction projects are a part of the district's Build60 2019 bond program. Voters approved a $218 million bond to upgrade infrastructure or construct new buildings at 13 schools.

The high school buildings will have laser printers for modernized Career and Technical Education programs, a kitchen for culinary arts programs and nursing classrooms that simulate hospital settings. Auditoriums will have the flexibility to be converted into lecture halls.

Once construction of the high schools is complete, the old facilities will be demolished.

Construction for the high schools is expected to be completed in December 2022 or January 2023.

All five school buildings will be constructed with energy efficiency in mind. Energy usage is expected to be reduced by about 30 to 40% compared with existing schools.
