Construction has begun on a new high school in the Collier County (Fla.) district.
The school, unnamed at this point, is being built north of Naples and is expected to accommodate more than 2,000 students, reports WINK News. The Collier district last opened a high school in 2004 when Golden Gate High School and Palmetto Ridge High School were unveiled.
The cost for the school is about $97 million, The Naples Daily News reports.
The 295,071-square-foot, three-story building will feature a 1,350-seat performing arts center and student union. The university-like design includes a “town square” and a sports complex with a 4,000-seat stadium.
The school will offer five career academies--law studies, engineering, health science, information technology, and entrepreneurship and finance.
The district acquired the land for the campus in 2001.
The school is expected to open in August 2023.
The architect is Zyscovich Architects.
