The Ralph C. Mahar & School Union 73 (Mass.) district is building a major addition to Fisher Hill Elementary School in Orange, Mass.
The $57.6 million, three-story, 50,000-square-foot project will combine the Fisher Hill and Dexter Park Innovation School campuses at one location, reports The Athol Daily News.
The 1950s-era Dexter Park Innovation School will be demolished, and students from Dexter Park will move into the expanded Fisher Hill Elementary School.
The need to replace or repair Dexter Park Innovation School has been apparent since at least 2006, when the Massachusetts School Building Authority cited deficiencies with the school’s boiler and heating system, a leaking roof and opaque windows, as well as overcrowding.
Construction of the new facility is slated to finish in 2023.
Raymond Design Associates, Inc. is the architect.
