Career and technical charter school planned in Post Falls, Idaho
A charter school called Elevate Academy plans to open in Post Falls, Idaho, in 2022.
Elevate Academy North will be a year-round school that will specialize in career technical skills and will serve at-risk students as well as those with special needs, reports the Spokane Journal of Business.
The school will serve about 310 students. When it opens, the school will serve grades six through 10, according to the school website. An 11th grade and 12th grade will be added in 2024 and 2025.
The $9 million project will consist of 36,000 square feet of space in two connected buildings--a two-story academy building and a single-story technical building. The classrooms have been designed to extend into hallways to enhance a personalized learning approach.
The school offers programs such as nursing, criminal justice, firefighting, business, marketing. General classrooms will be in the main building; a full-scale wood construction shop and a metals and welding workshop will be in the adjacent building.
Students also have multiple options to get to the first level from the second level by stairs, elevator or a purple slide.
Elevate is also constructing schools in Nampa and Idaho Falls that will open in 2022 and 2023. There is also a location in Caldwell.
Erstad Architects is designing the project and ESI Construction is the construction manager.
