$124 million high school is under construction in Colorado

July 26, 2021
The 280,000-square-foot Greeley West High School is set to open in Greeley, Colo., in 2022.

A $124 million, 280,000-square-foot high school is under construction in the Greeley-Evans Weld County (Colo.) district.

The new building for Greeley West High in Greeley will increase capacity from 1,000 students to about 1,800 students. The new building is being erected west of the existing high school, according to the district's site.

The school will feature ample amounts of natural lighting and outdoor learning spaces, a career and technical education wing, an art classroom, weight and fitness spaces, a main gymnasium, an auxiliary gym, a theater and performing arts area — with seating for about 600 people — and an academic wing.

The main hallway entrance on the east side of the building will open up into the school's main common space, which also has access to an outdoor courtyard.

The rebuilt Greeley West is scheduled to open in August 2022. The old Greeley West building will then be torn down.

Several other buildings are under construction as part of the district's $395 million 2019 bond measure.
