Fort Smith (Ark.) district is constructing a career and technical education facility
The Fort Smith (Ark.) district is building a career and technical education facility that will serve high school students from 22 school districts.
The Northwest Arkansas Democrat Gazette reports that the first phase of the facility, the Peak Innovation Center, will focus on programs in advanced manufacturing, information technology and health sciences.
The center project is a part of Fort Smith's Vision 2023 capital improvement program.
The learning space for phase one of the Peak Innovation Center will encompass about 80,000 square feet. The facility itself is 160,000 square feet, with additional acres for expansion.
The district had planned to open in August, but now is aiming to finish construction by the start of the spring 2022 semester.
The contractor is Turn Key Construction Management.
