The first phase of facility improvements at Douglas Elementary School in Douglas, Mich., will provide new art, music and science/technology rooms as well as HVAC and roofing upgrades.
A second phase of work is scheduled to begin in June after the school year is concluded.The campus will get a new secure entrance and office, renovated lower elementary classrooms and upgrades to the cafeteria, learning commons, volunteer area and special education suite, reports the Holland Sentinel.
“After years of planning, we are excited to finally begin extensive renovations at DES,” Saugatuck School Superintendent Tim Travis said.
The district won approval of a $35.6 million bond proposal that is paying for the Douglas renovations and significant improvements to Saugatuck Middle School and High School.
The architect is GMB Architecture and Engineering and the builder is GDK Construction.
