A 950-student elementary school under construction in Kelso, Wash., will replace two existing elementaries.
The Daily News in Longview Wash., reports that the Kelso district is close to completing construction of Lexington Elementary, which is set to open this summer. It will replace Beacon Hill and Catlin elementary schools.
Academic wings will separate grade levels in the school, which will have two science, technology, engineering and math labs, a separated gym and cafeteria and an outdoor play area enclosed on three sides by the school.
Work on the school is on track to be finished by July for students to move in at the start of the 2021-22 school year,
Longer parent drop-off lanes, science and technology rooms, a family resource room, two covered play spaces and a spacious library are among the elementary school's features.
