Construction of $155 million project will not begin in June as scheduled.

Construction of a $155 million football training facility at the University of Nebraska will not begin in June as scheduled.

The Lincoln Journal-Star reports that the 350,000-square-foot project is in "pause mode," according to Nebraska Athletic director Bill Moos

"We’re moving very, very strongly through the design phase," Moos says.

However, Moos says, construction will have to wait as the university tries to assess the financial losses it will encounter because of the coronavirus pandemic.

"Because among other things, we have tremendous budget woes we’re looking at," he said. “You start taking a couple of those (home football games) away, and then you start saying, ‘Hey, the stadium can only be 30% full.’ You’re talking about huge, huge numbers in terms of ... revenue streams.”

The initial target for completion had been June 2022.
