The University of Missouri Board of Curators has approved a $30 million plan to replace the Sinclair School of Nursing building on MIssouri's Columbia campus.

The Columbia Missourian reports that the university will demolish the existing building on the campus of its University Hospital and construct a smaller, free-standing building over the existing basement.

The new facility will have about 104,000 square feet of usable space, the university says. It will have larger classrooms, clinical seminar rooms, a simulation center and a research and innovation center.

It will enable the nursing school to admit as many as 40 additional students to the academic program each year—a 25% increase in enrollment. The new building is still in its early fundraising stages.

Funds for the new facility come from Sinclair School of Nursing reserves, private gifts, proceeds from land sales and MU Health Care, Brncic said.
